Who We Are

Dedicated to the well-being of our community's companion animals.

LCHS OfficeLCHS Office

Formed in 1960, LCHS has since been dedicated to matching families with homeless pets and educating the community about responsible pet ownership, including spaying and neutering. Each year, LCHS adopts out nearly 500 pets and provides spay/neuter assistance for many more. Our dedicated Board of Directors, advisors, staff, and over 600 volunteers work tirelessly to socialize and provide companionship to all of our animals.

The Leon County Humane Society (LCHS) is a 501(c)3 non-profit, private organization, supported by individuals and businesses in our community and strong partnerships with other animal service organizations and animal welfare alliances.

We are not affiliated with or funded by any national humane groups or governmental agencies and must rely on donations to bring our services to the community.
