Walk & Wag 2016

Be A Humane Hero for Local Animals in Need!

2016 Walk & Wag

Grab your sneakers, your friends, and your family (both two- and four-legged) for the Leon County Humane Society’s 2nd Annual Walk & Wag dog walk fundraiser!

Help us bring awareness to the reality of animal abuse and neglect and what WE can do to prevent it from happening in our community!

Walk & Wag: Humane Heroes will combine fundraising with a campaign to bring awareness to the cruelty and neglect facing many animals every day.

After your walk, you'll have the opportunity to participate in Humane Hero Missions. These missions are fun and educational activities that are designed to empower everyday citizens to help animals in need.

Complete Missions to earn your Humane Hero Cape and Certification (signed by City Commissioner, Scott Maddox) along with the right to fly down the giant inflatable slide!

Individuals and families are invited to bring their friendly furry companions to enjoy the walk or to walk with an LCHS adoptable friend instead. "Humane Heroes" will be recognized and introduced in the weeks leading up to the Walk & Wag as well as on the day of the event. “Humane Heroes” are identified as individuals who have shown courage and determination in improving the lives of animals in our community. We will also be showcasing some of the animals rescued by LCHS who have beaten the odds and have gone on to become ambassadors for the work we do.

The event will be filled with activities for children and adults to enjoy, including a donation Taco Bar by Chuy's Tex Mex, Kona Ice, the Cascades Imagination Fountain, a colorful cast of superhero characters to interact with and great music. Participants are encouraged to dress themselves (and/or their pets) as their favorite superhero! Did we mention that your dog can join in on the fun?!

All funds raised from Walk & Wag will go toward the veterinary care and special needs of our animals, as well as the overall operation of our organization and ongoing programs.

WHERE: Cascades Park.
WHEN: October 9th, 1pm to 4pm.

Please do not be discouraged if you do not own a dog. LCHS foster dogs will be on hand during the event to be your canine walking companion!

You may also wish to raise funds in the name of a specific LCHS foster dog. Feel free to use the photos and stories from the profiles listed on our adoptable dogs page.
