Grab your sneakers, your friends, and your family (both two- and four-legged) for the Leon County Humane Society’s 2nd Annual Walk & Wag dog walk fundraiser!
Walk & Wag: Humane Heroes will combine fundraising with a campaign to bring awareness to the cruelty and neglect facing many animals every day.
After your walk, you'll have the opportunity to participate in Humane Hero Missions. These missions are fun and educational activities that are designed to empower everyday citizens to help animals in need.
Individuals and families are invited to bring their friendly furry companions to enjoy the walk or to walk with an LCHS adoptable friend instead. "Humane Heroes" will be recognized and introduced in the weeks leading up to the Walk & Wag as well as on the day of the event. “Humane Heroes” are identified as individuals who have shown courage and determination in improving the lives of animals in our community. We will also be showcasing some of the animals rescued by LCHS who have beaten the odds and have gone on to become ambassadors for the work we do.
The event will be filled with activities for children and adults to enjoy, including a donation Taco Bar by Chuy's Tex Mex, Kona Ice, the Cascades Imagination Fountain, a colorful cast of superhero characters to interact with and great music. Participants are encouraged to dress themselves (and/or their pets) as their favorite superhero! Did we mention that your dog can join in on the fun?!
While there is no registration fee for the Walk & Wag, participants are asked to raise a minimum of $25 to walk in the event. Set a fundraising goal and ask friends, family, and co-workers to help you achieve it!
You may also gather donations in person with the Walk & Wag donation form. Each in-person donation you receive must be accompanied by a fully completed donation form.
The top three fundraisers will receive very special prizes to honor their effort on behalf of homeless pets.
Donations must be turned in no later than 2pm on October 9th, 2016 at the Walk & Wag registration table inside Cascades Park. Donations can be turned in before the 9th at the LCHS office on 413 Timberlane Road. Online donations will be accounted for automatically.
Once you're set up, all you have to do is share your donation page link. Click for instructions detailing how to get your personalized Walk & Wag fundraising page.
Please do not be discouraged if you do not own a dog. LCHS foster dogs will be on hand during the event to be your canine walking companion!
You may also wish to raise funds in the name of a specific LCHS foster dog. Feel free to use the photos and stories from the profiles listed on our adoptable dogs page.
