Volunteer Opportunities

 

The time you give helps in so many ways.

There are so many different opportunities from working directly with our animals as a Foster Parent or care-giver, to helping at special events and fundraisers, to helping us maintain our building. If any of these opportunities are of interest to you, please take a look at the volunteering process.

Daily Kitty Kare *High Need*

We always need volunteers to help us with daily cat cleaning and care for the cats who live and visit our office. Kitty Kare teams typically start at 9am and end around 11am.

Daily Laundry

We always need volunteers to help us with the mountains of laundry that result from taking care of lots of animals. Laundry volunteers typically drop in througout the day from 9am to 5pm.

Weekly PetSmart Kitty Kare

If you have just an hour or two once a week, you can help us by caring for our Ambassador Cats who spend the week at the PetSmart on Capital Circle NE.

Adoption Booth Volunteers

If you like dogs, our Adoption Booths may be the perfect opportunity for you! They happen every 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month at the PetSmart on Capital Circle NE.

Dog Wash Fundraisers

Dog Wash fundraisers are held at the LCHS office during the warmer months. This event not only generates income for LCHS, but it also gives the public a chance to learn how to care for their pet and an opportunity to ask questions about their pet's health. Experience Needed: Should be comfortable around dogs and not afraid to get wet! 



Foster Family Volunteers


Foster families house rescued animals in their homes until suitable adoptive homes are found. All expenses are covered by LCHS; you simply provide love and social interaction for the pet. You will be asked to complete a foster family application and a basic home visit to ensure the animal will be placed in a safe environment. Learn more about the LCHS Foster Program

Fur Ball Volunteers

The Fur Ball, our organization's largest fundraiser, is an annual, semi-formal dance and silent auction where all proceeds directly benefit animals in our community. Community businesses purchase sponsorships and volunteers put on the event. About 400 people attend each year. Money is raised through ticket sales, business sponsorships, and a silent auction.
