Did you know, the Leon County Humane Society...

Rescues and finds permanent homes for hundreds of animals every year, thus reducing the number of animals euthanized in shelters.
Funded the spay/neuter of over 1,000 animals in 2006.
Provides humane education programs for community members of all ages.
Works to relieve animal suffering.
Always has 150-200 animals in foster care, awaiting adoption.
Is a separate organization from the city funded shelter.

Volunteer Opportunities
Care for Cats Visiting LCHS Office
Volunteers are needed Monday-Friday mornings from 9:00 to 10:30am. Flexible schedule - help out one morning or several.
Everyday Needs
We need volunteers to sterilize crates, clean cat cages, answer phones, clean and organize animal supplies, and much more.
Pet Adoption Booth
First and third Saturdays of every month LCHS calendar. 11am-4pm at PetSmart, 3220 Capital Circle NE. Help is needed transporting animals, holding animals, booth setup and tear down.
